Lisbon Market Tour & Portuguese Cooking Class
Lisbon Market Tour & Portuguese Cooking Class
From Market to Table
In Portugal, every meal starts before you even step into the kitchen. It all starts at the market.
Join our chef for a relaxed morning experience that takes you from the stalls of a local Lisbon market to the table at Compadre Cooking School. You will discover fresh seasonal ingredients, learn how Portuguese people choose fish, vegetables, herbs and traditional products, and then return to our kitchen to cook a full Portuguese meal from scratch.
This is a hands-on, small-group cooking experience designed for travellers who want more than a recipe. You will understand the ingredients, cook with guidance from our chef, and sit down together to enjoy everything you prepared, served with Portuguese wine.
The menu changes according to the season and market availability, making each class slightly different. Expect fresh, local and traditional Portuguese food — cooked, shared and enjoyed the Compadre way.

Your morning, step by step
1. Meet your chef at a traditional Lisbon market
You will meet up with our chef directly on a local Lisbon market and explore the ingredients that shape Portuguese home cooking. Along the way, you will learn about seasonal produce, fish, herbs, vegetables, traditional products and how Portuguese people shop for a good meal.
2. Explore and get the ingredients
The market inspires the menu. Our chef will guide the group through the ingredients and explain how they can be used in Portuguese cooking.
3. Return to the kitchen
Back at Compadre Cooking School, it is time to cook. You will prepare a seasonal Portuguese meal step by step in a relaxed, hands-on environment.
4. Sit down and share the meal
After cooking, we gather around the table to enjoy everything prepared during the class, served with Portuguese wine, water and good conversation.
